The Cleveland Youth Detention Centre, located in Townsville, accommodates young males from north of Rockhampton. The expantion of the Cleveland youth Detention Centre takes the facility from an existing 48 beds to 104 beds. There are all new services and infrastructure including new Education, Administration, Utilities, Operations, Training, Kitchen, Laundry and Stores facilities.

 

This Centre is designed to meet a new operational philosophy and the latest rehabilitation techniques utilised by the Department of Communities. The youth detention centre is designed to aid the government’s aim to break the cycle of repeat offending through integration of community participation in the rehabilitation process.
